Social Workers

In social work, each day is different and you will be working directly with service users, acting as their advocates with other healthcare professionals, and working with the community more widely – including families and carers of service user’s.

Social workers need to be able to work under pressure, deal with very challenging behaviour, organise their own workload and be understanding of other people’s lifestyle. They also need organisational skills, empathy (able to see things from other points of view), relationship-building skills, resilience, problem-solving skills and motivational skills
